2008 Summer Camps
Summertime and camps go together naturally. Our summer camps are a great way for your child to start creating his or her own memories – exploring nature, getting muddy, running and mucking about, and making new friends. Each one of our camps is an exciting and unique week packed full of activities. Every camp has a low counselor to camper ratio and is filled with age-appropriate activities. Campers will get to experience the natural world in a whole new way this summer. Camp Descriptions (ages 3-5 and 6-10) Art in Nature June 9-13 This camp, the longest running camp at Imago, connects children to nature through art. Campers will create great works of art using natural materials and inspired by the great outdoors. The week closes with an art show to display all the week’s work. Nature Detectives June 16-20 Nature is full of mysteries. Campers will become detectives as they use their wits to solve some of the great mysteries of nature at Imago. Campers will learn naturalist skills such as identification and tracking to help them solve these whodunits. Things with Wings June 23-27 The world is full of exciting winged creatures. From insects to birds to bats, campers will explore all things with wings through games, activities, and hikes. Back in Time July 7-11 (Ages 6-10 only) This week campers will go back in time and live as a Native American 500 years ago. Children will spend the day in our replica Native American Homestead, make Native American crafts, play traditional games, and learn to respect the earth just like the Native Americans did. Aqua Adventures July 7-11 (Ages 3-5 only) Summer is hot, and water is always a favorite way to enjoy summertime. Explore the pond, learn all about water, and stay cool with lots of silly water games. This camp combines the educational aspect of water with a fun reason to get soaking wet. Aqua Adventures July 14-18 Summer is hot, and water is always a favorite way to enjoy summertime. Explore the pond, learn all about water, and stay cool with lots of silly water games. This camp combines the educational aspect of water with a fun reason to get soaking wet. Imago Olympics July 21-24 With the Summer Olympics fast approaching, we decided it only fitting to have our own Olympics, Imago style. Campers will try to see as far as a hawk or jump as far as a frog; they will see if they can run as fast as a deer or hear as well as a bat. Each day will be filled with events as campers work together to earn medals. We will celebrate the end of the week with our own Olympic Closing Ceremony. Aftercamp (optional and available every week) If your child wants two more hours of extra camp fun every day, then After Camp is the perfect program. After Camp is only for the 6-10 year-olds who are at camp until 2:30. This camp will last from 2:30-4:30 and is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Adventure Camp (for ages 10-14, takes place June 23-27) This camp is especially designed for older kids ages 10-14 who are looking for some excitement. Each day campers will travel to different local natural areas to go canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, and more. This camp is much too thrilling to be held in one place, and campers will leave with many new experiences and friends. This camp runs from 9:00-4:00, and the cost is $225 for members and $235 for non-members. Registration Process Registration is simple!
