Earth & Spirit is the name Imago gives to programs and events that connect spirituality with ecological action. In myriad ways they seek to explore and express how to live with the understanding that Earth is sacred “for all the children of all the species for all times.”

EarthSpirit Rising Conferences

EarthSpirit Rising Conferences have been the premier Earth and Spirit events for ten years. These conferences have been drawing people together since 1998 to explore the cultural and spiritual transformation essential for humans to live sustainably within the Earth community. ESR conferences draw on the wisdom Earth expresses through the sciences and through modern and ancient spiritual traditions. Each conference brings together some of the cutting edge thinkers of our time, regionally based developers of sustainability practices, and participants from across the country to learn from each other, inspire one another, and create networks for support and action.
With a total attendance of over 2500 participants at six weekend conferences, these events have provided significant windows of opportunity for people eager to be in the forefront of the movement to heal Earth and craft a new model of being human on our fragile, beautiful planet home. First Friday Conversations
Imago gathers neighbors and friends together on the first Friday of each month for dinner and conversation. Varying topics are open for discussion during these monthly gatherings such as, permaculture, nonviolent communication techniques, planetary water concerns and contemporary rites of passage. They provide a community gathering place to share ideas, build relationships and offer support for people working to restore the planet and live more sustainably.
Visit our calendar for more information on upcoming conversations.

CEI Courses
The Cincinnati Earth Institute, a program of Imago, provides a series of stimulating discussion courses designed to clarify personal values and attitudes on critical environmental issues. The mission of CEI is to motivate individuals to examine and transform personal values and habits, to accept responsibility for the Earth, and to act on that commitment. The courses encourage an ecocentric view of the earth, reflected in the principles of deep ecology; the practice of simplicity in order to enrich life and reduce personal impact on the Earth; and a dedication to knowing and protecting the unique place where we live.

FILMS THAT MATTER
FILMS THAT MATTER offers a series of cutting-edge films about Earth, about the planet-sized challenges and opportunities of our times, and about innovative ideas and inspiring people that are making a difference. Bringing independent films to convenient locations, FILMS THAT MATTER provides a space for people to gather, learn and discuss what MATTERS.
Visit our calendar for more information on upcoming FILMS THAT MATTER.

Earth Elders
In 2001, Imago sponsored its first "Council of Elders" to explore possibilities for how Elders can participate in restoring and renewing Earth and the human community. Imago staff members developed programs designed to encourage older adults to use their gifts for the well being of Earth and all Earth's species; that is, to become active participants in what ecozoic theologian Thomas Berry has deemed the Great Work of moving into the next era of human history. Imago now has a five-week interactive discussion course, Earth ELDERevolution, designed to nurture the developing community of Wisdom-Keepers/Earth-Elders as they rewrite the future of this planet called Home. For more information click here.

Speakers
Throughout the year Imago also offers unique opportunities to hear regional and internationally acclaimed speakers, and to presents workshops on eco-spirituality and personal growth.

Seasonal Celebrations
Throughout human history people have recognized a deep and inherent relationship with Earth’s sacred systems of life. The changing of the seasons was often marked with community celebrations, providing pause to reflect on the changes in light, warmth and cold, the return of the growing season, the abundance of harvest, and the dormancy of winter. Imago provides opportunities to celebrate the beauty of each season and other moments to remind people of our essential connection with the life cycles of our planetary home.

A Weekend with Sr. Miriam Therese MacGillis
June 20-22, 2008
Grailville Retreat & Program Center, Loveland, Ohio

This weekend retreat is intended to inspire, transform and empower us as we reflect on the context and implications of a New Cosmology for re-visioning our human identity and purpose within the seamless fabric of Earth's life. Retreat leader Miriam MacGillis, OP, is founder of Genesis Farm in the Ridge and Valley region of northwestern NJ. Drawing from the insights of Thomas Berry and Brian Swimme, as well as her own work with Genesis farm, Miriam will provide leadership to a weekend of presentations, reflection, small group discussions, ritual, and time to be present to the unique and abundant beauty of Grailville's lands and garden. Miriam will also discuss the more universal archetypal meaning of the Sacred Grail, as a thread of continuity with past traditions and a rich evocation of our human capacity to heal the violence, alienation and ecological crises of our times.
