New Land!

Imago is excited to announce the protection of 13 more acres, bringing our total of protected forest on the Enright Ridge to 36 acres.

The land is comprised of two separate parcels; one 9 acre parcel that used to be the site of an old farm. You can see the well from the farm in the image on the left. Hiking the old farm has one can't help but bump into the history of the land as you encounter foundations of outbuildings, bones from rendering piles, and interesting junk (including a very rusty motor). The farm even has an old switchback road that takes you down to Fairbanks avenue. The second parcel is actually 3 narrow pieces that run up and down the steep hills of the Enright Ridge. This region is full of big oaks, an understory of buckeyes and dry creek beds.

We want to thank the people and organizations who helped make the protection of this land possible:

  • Clare and Roland Johnson of the Land Conservancy of Hamilton County - for providing maps
  • Clean Ohio Funds - this is the state program that makes funds available for land conservation and who provided the bulk of the funding for the protection of the 13 acres.
  • Sean Mullaney - for bringing his passion to the project, making sure that it happened and bringing all the people together to see the land protected. He also donated some of this land.
  • Eric Russo of the Hillside Trust: for being the prinicpal author of the Clean Ohio Grant
  • Jim Schenk of Imago - whose vision and energy fueled the project, if Imago does it, Jim makes it happen.
  • Kendra Schroer - who was willing to part with her land and see it conserved.

Open House

Thank you all for a wonderful Open House and Hike! We had a beautiful day with beautiful people. To see pics from the Open House check out our Facebook Page.

Contribute!

In order to begin work on restoring the land we need funds to purchase trees, seeds, materials and equipment for removing litter and invasive species and for establishing walking paths. Please consider making a donation to the campaign to get the restoration work started! With your help we will be able to bring back the natural beauty to this awesome site.

What's Next?

That's partially up to you! We have a team of wonderful and skilled volunteers who will guide the land through it's next phase. Perhaps some of it will be used as a Forest Garden, or it will be restored for wildlife, it could have a walking trail, or maybe even a small camping area. We also need a name for the new land. If you have an idea of something you'd like to see or a name for the new property feel free to send it along to us.
