Imago was established in 1978 with the purpose of deepening our connection to Earth. From our beginning as a small grassroots organization to today we have stayed true to that vision. At Imago we fulfill our mission through a variety of innovative programs.
- Imago offers a variety of Education programs - for people who want to learn more about natural history, the environment and sustainable living. Our education programs span the ages from toddlers and preschoolers to adults. Our feature education programs are based at our Earth Center, our 16-acre nature preserve where we lead hands-on education hikes for over 8,000 schools and scouts each year.
- Another key component of Imago's mission is not simply to educate but to congregate as well. To offer opportunities for environmentally-minded people to get together to collaborate and reinvigorate. Most prominent among these are our Earth and Spirit programs. Imago also hosts a First Friday Conversation and a Eco-Babies parenting potluck.
- Imago is also active in preserving natural areas. Imago is currently conserving 23 acres of urban forest, located 5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Not content to just protect we are enhancing the forest by planting native trees and wildflowers, picking up litter, and educating about the importance of unblemished natural areas. By establishing a free, open and urban nature preserve we ensure that encounters with nature are available to all people regardless of where they live or what they make.
- One of Imago's most ambitious projects is the Enright Ridge Urban Eco-Village, a community visioning and living a sustainble lifestyle. The work of the Enright Avenue residents (which includes Imago) this grand project involves the many aspects of a community living in harmony with Earth.
